Our Philosophy
Since we have had an above-average focus on food and health, we feel we’re in a serviceable position to help others down the path of creating a healthy family.
The purpose of this site is first and foremost to be a source of inspiration and guidance toward the practical application of all the best nutrition advice available.
We especially want to help people overcome the roadblocks that frustrate their attempts to eat healthy.
What We Eat
Some might be surprised to find that we don’t unconditionally condone any particular philosophy of eating. I guess that’s partly because we have developed our very own philosophy! We take the best nuggets of wisdom we can find from all worthy diets—even seemingly opposing ones—and we place them together, taking the best from all of them. Thus, our philosophy is always evolving because we are always learning. And yours should, too!
Most importantly, we believe that every person should study the information available and decide what is best for their particular situation. Observe your habits, continue learning, and apply what you know to the best of your ability. Nobody’s body is identical to another’s. Thus, your ideal diet will differ from another person’s.
With all of that said, however, there is rhyme and reason to what constitutes a healthy diet. Pure food, whole food, varied food, and ‘appreciated’ food are always our top recommendations. We feel strongly about our need to eat well not only for our own health, but for the health of the planet.
Unfortunately, there is a war of nutritional ideologies out there. We have studied them, and found merit in many of them, but too often people engage in black and white ideology and blanket statements, heading to extremes in eating that can be harmful. We believe in sustainability, but we also believe in convenience. We believe in moderation, but we also believe in enjoyment. We believe in unprocessed foods, but we also recognize the need for efficiency. We believe in eating many of our foods raw, but not all of them. And we believe animal foods provide nutritional factors that are very beneficial to family nutrition, but they should also be used in wisdom and moderation. We believe in treating animals humanely for their own sake, as well as for our own health. We don’t believe that all these values mentioned above are contradictory, but that there is a “golden mean” that will result in the healthiest outcome for your family and the entire world. The golden mean isn’t an excuse to be mediocre, but rather an ideal to strive for and enjoy!
Eating right isn’t as easy as grabbing fast food. At least not now—not in our non-stop, fast-paced society. But, it’s a lot easier than you might think! With a few tricks, a few changed habits, and some added knowledge, you’ll soon have a rewardingly happy and healthy lifestyle. This site facilitates that process by providing people with as much good information as we can give you. We’re pulling together all of the best resources to help you on your journey.
Hopefully soon you, we, and everyone who visits this site will be much farther down the road of healthy living– enjoying a fulfilled, balanced, and happy life!
Our Focus is on Prevention
Prevention isn’t popular—at least not as popular as quick fixes are! We believe that foresight and planning is the best approach to almost every endeavor, including health. And that’s why we’re so passionate about nutrition!
If you’re reading this, you probably don’t need to be convinced that prevention is much more powerful than cure. Don’t get me wrong: eating healthy after a diagnosis of cancer or heart disease can work miracles with a person’s health and prognosis. In fact, some people cure themselves of their disease simply by changing their diet. But unfortunately, many people aren’t cured, possibly because they waited for the problem to get too large, so to speak, before making a change. Lest I begin to appear too judgmental, however, I’ll continue to assert that we’re all human. We all need some painful prodding to make change happen… and that’s the purpose and blessing of pain.
Prevention and the avoidance of unnecessary pain is the primary reason we start with young people. We focus on families with children, on hopeful mothers, and on expectant mothers because we know that the sooner someone starts eating healthy, the greater will be the impact on the rest of their lives: the clearer their thinking, the higher their energy, the fewer their sicknesses, and the greater their vitality.
Prevention is a miracle—some benefits of which take a lifetime to unfold—but it is definitely well worth the wait.
