Grapes with Seeds

A friend just gave me some concord grapes fresh from the vineyard.   I was incredibly impressed with their hearty flavor and robust sweetness. I was also impressed with their seeds.  I’ve found that fruit with the seeds still in them are generally more vigorous and flavorful than seedless varieties.   When I was a kid I would have spit out the seeds.  But today I decided to chew them.

Grape seeds are great for kids, because they give them the much-needed chance to exercise their little jaws (I could write a book on the neglect of and the need for jaw exercise in young children).  Plus, grape seeds are full of healthy antioxidants.  I would like to see us humans move back to eating seeded grapes.  They’re more natural and they’re healthier.

Hey Nick, I like to add fresh spinach leaves to my soups and what not at lunch time. It is also good added to steaming hot noodles, beans or even Ramen (Ouch). I know frozen meals usually have too much sodium in them but I like to add fresh spinach to my Lean Cuisine squash ravioli or lasagna for work at lunch. Tasty and I don’t need to tell you how much healthier that is. Love, M

Those are great ideas. I knew you were a big fan of spinach. I also like to keep a big bag of spinach leaves or spring greens in the fridge and homemade balsamic vinaigrette with mustard or Annie’s Goddess dressing and eat salads during the week. Raw sunflower seeds, pepitas, walnuts, golden raisins, etc are good to put on top. Thanks, mom!
